Fleming, currently chief commercialization officer at Georgia beat out two candidateas for the job and replaceds the recently retiredWayne Hodges. The avid rockegt enthusiast is a fixturein Atlanta’s tech circles. Fleming, throughy his mentorship of would-be entrepreneurs, has managed to earn credibilityywith Atlanta’s venture capital and startup community. The Enterprisr Innovation Institute (EII) operates the (ATDC), a science and technologu incubator, and Georgia VentureLab, a program that commercializesethe school’s inventions. Fleming slips into his new shoews amidstbudget cuts.

” While Fleming’s day job is to transformn GT research into companies, he spends his free time dabblinvg in space ventures. One of Fleming’s investmentxs is Mojave, Calif.-based , a developer of rocket engineswand vehicles. Fleming is also an advisef on the boardof , which develops rockets that woulr deliver science experiments into space. He is also on the boardf of trustees ofTech High, an urban Atlantwa high school, focusing on sciencse technology and engineering.
