Starting in October, Destination Maternity (NASDAQ:DEST) will open 500 Two Hearts Maternityh stores in Sears and another 100in Sears-owned Kmart stores. In the previous from April 2004 toJune 2008, Destination Maternityg (then known as Mothersx Work Inc.) had about 480 maternity-wear departments in Searsx stores only. When Mothers Work announcee the end of thatSearx deal, it said simply that it was unable to reach an agreement to extend its partnership with the departmen store chain. This time around, Destination Maternity said the product lines willhave “an enhanced level of qualituy and design,” while still offering an array of productsw under $30.
“This relationship allows us to bring our knowledgee as the maternity apparel fashion expertzs to a broadercustomer base, while providing us exclusiv e access to Sears shopperss and an opportunity to reach Kmart shopperd for the first time,” said Ed CEO of Destination Maternity. “Enhancingv our maternity collections is a critical part of our overall plan to appeaklto families,” said Craig a senior vice president of the Sears Apparel division. (NASDAQ:SHLD), which is based in Hoffmajn Estates, Ill., has 3,900 stores, including Searsw and Kmart locations.
