The required stafg cuts leave the officse with fewer people to pursu and collect millions of dollarsx in unpaid traffic and court which will lead to morebudget cuts. “It’ s a vicious cycle designed to underfund usinto extinction,” she said.
Thirty-twpo employees accepted a buyout offer this monthg and will leave June 30 with a full payout on their sick rather than the normal 25 percent to 50 percent offereed under currenttermination policies. On May 29, an addition 34 employees were told during staff meetings that they were beinhglaid off, effective June 12. They will receivs four weeks of pay. With thesse layoffs and the positionspreviously eliminated, the office has cut 101 positionsd -- 16 percent of management positions and 12 percent of hourly positionws -- in the past year.
The Clerk & Comptroller’ s Office, which employs more than 800 in officesw throughout PalmBeach County, handles the business arm of the courtg system. Employees receive, file and retrieve court documents, procesas fees and traffic fines, and enterd and maintain case information inthe court’s computer system.
