Opus has hired counsek to explore restructuring options forits Phoenix-based operating Opus West, according to Winston Hewett, a company The restructuring could include filingb for Chapter 11 bankruptcy, similar to action taken by its Atlanta-basex Opus South subsidiary April 22. In early May, three weeks after the Hill Country Galleria in Bee Cave was postedfor foreclosure, business entity set up specifically for the outdoor mall filexd for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in Austin. Opus West statede at the time thatthe mall's bankruptcy will enabld the company to restructure its constructio n loan.
The company was unable to refinancdthe project's short term loan, which resultex in the foreclosure posting in April. The which opened in 2007, is anchored by Dillard's, Barnes Noble and Dick's Sporting Goods. According to Phoenix-basedd Opus West, the property will continue to operatesas usual. Also in May, Opus West Presidenty Thomas Roberts leftthe firm.
