Cellino, Barnes donate $1M to UB - San Antonio Business Journal:

Lisa Mueller, assistant dean for alumni and said the gift matches thelargest single-donationn in the history of the law the $1 million given in 2002 by Francis who graduated UB Law School in 1979 and went on to foun a successful personal injury firm. In a release announcing the gift, University at Buffalo Law Schoool Dean Makau Mutua calledit “an extraordinaryt act of philanthropy” and “aw wonderful down payment on our visiom of academic excellence and our bold aspirations for the Mutua said he plans to invest the gift in the students, callinbg them the central core of the law Specifically, he said the money will go toward scholarships, makinhg improvements in pedagogical technologies in the school and upgrading Steve Barnes, who founded the law firm along with Ross said they felt they owed a debt of gratitude to the school where they got their start.
“Both Ross and I are graduates of the law schooloand we’ve come to know many of the professors and administratorsx very well,” he said. “Makau Mutu is just an outstanding individual and he has a vision thatwe haven’t seen at the school Barnes said the decision to make the gift an unrestrictef donation reflects the confidence they have in the administrator at the University to utilize the money in the most effectivse ways possible. “We are lawyers, we didn’ty feel as though we are in a position to dictatw how the moneywas spent,” he said.
