The building, 701 Ninth St. NW, won a Gold rating from the U.S. Greeh Building Council for LEED EBOM, or Leadership in Energy and Environmen forExisting Buildings: Operations and Maintenance. manages the 400,000-square-foot EBOM measures how well a buildinvg or complex performs on differentenvironmental metrics, examininfg day-to-day operations in addition to the structure’e environmental impact. To achieve the Gold Cassidy & Pinkard implemented a program in early 2008 togreebn Pepco’s corporate headquarters, completesd in 2001. The effortd cut the building’s energy consumption by 16.7 percent, carbonh dioxide emissions by 507.
78 metric tons and water consumption by morethan 1.1 milliom gallons, Cassidy & Pinkard said. Six major environmenta categories are reviewed during thecertification process: sustainable sites; water efficiency; materials/resources; indoor environmental quality; and innovation/design. Buildings can be Silver, Gold or Platinum based on the total numbef ofpoints earned. New York-based (NYSE: BPO) bought the building from the Pepcl investment armin 2004.
