A.M. Best reaffirmed Greaty American’s financial strength ratings of "A" and and issuer credit ratingsof "a" and "a-" for its life and healtg insurance subsidiaries, according to a news It cited “consistently profitable operating performance, favorable liquidity positiom and solid risk-adjusted capitalization and the breadth and depth of its distribution channels,” for the reaffirmation. It added that the by its Cincinnati-based (NYSE: AFG), in 2007, strengthens the latter’s commitment to the company.
The negative outlook is the resul of thecurrent economy, as well as Great American’ds exposure to financial-sector corporate bonds and real estate-relatedf investments, especially mortgage-backed securities, A.M.
