The Major League Baseball team has reacheea five-year deal with D. F. Sport Field Services SA to operatsthe facility. A team spokesmabn would not disclose the cost to buildthe complex. The facilituy is in Boca Chica, near baseball academies operated by severapl otherMLB teams. The team’s current Dominicah Republic facility is in San Pedrkode Macoris. “The new complex in the Dominicam Republic is a huge step forward in our player development saidEd Wade, Astros general “We’re excited about the advanced that we’re making on the international front, and this is one more cleatr indication of our commitment to find and develo the best talent worldwide.
” The complex consistws of two-and-a-half baseball playing fields and othert amenities, including a two-story building with administrative offices, locker rooms and living quarters for playerzs and staff attending the academy. The facility is expectecd to be open for the start of the 2010 Dominican SummerLeague season.
